Leeds United could have ideal man to further Bielsa’s ideology

Leeds United had a very busy weekend having sacked manager Marcelo Bielsa following their 4-0 defeat at home to Tottenham on Saturday.

Talks have already begun over who will take over from the Argentine and the Whites might have already found their man in former RB Salzburg and RB Leipzig head coach Jesse Marsch [Fabrizio Romano].

An announcement could be made as soon as today (Monday 28 February) and he would be in the dugout for the trip to Leicester City at the weekend.

But what can Leeds fans expect from their potential new man? That’s what we’re here for.

Fortunately, the American manager did this video in February last year revealing all of the details of his tactical preferences while at RB Salzburg and it all sounds very Bielsa-esque.

Marsch could be the manager Victor Orta dreamt of when he appointed Bielsa as the one to take on the project and now they seem to be very close to completing the deal.

High tempo pressing and a focus on scoring goals rather than being defensively solid is exactly what the Whites have been doing for the past three and a half years.

It’s like Marsch has come from the Marcelo Bielsa school of coaching but he has youth on his side to keep it up for a very long time.

It isn’t inconceivable that he may even be the Leeds United manager for a good decade and the potential for success in that time is enormous.

Supporters are understandably upset to see Bielsa go after such a productive period but the time had certainly come and they might have the man they need to keep the good times rolling at Elland Road.

In other Leeds United news, Kalvin Phillips led the tributes from Whites players past and present as Bielsa left the club on Sunday.
