Leeds United could be set to announce new striker arrival as Elland Road deal on verge

Leeds United may not be about to end the winter transfer window without a new striker after all.

In typical Leeds fashion, the Whites have left it until the last few days of the transfer window to push for the signings that everyone knew they needed at the start of the month.

That signing being a striker.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin has been in fine form this season for the Whites, but it has been evident for a while now that he needs someone to take the weight off his shoulders at Elland Road.

But if the latest reports from abroad are anything to go by, Leeds may be closing on that much-needed winter arrival.

Joel Piroe exit takes another twist

Joel Piroe has been afforded very few opportunities to showcase his worth at Leeds this season, with his future coming into question as a result.

Championship clubs have shown an interest in the Dutchman, as have Rangers, who are also owned by The 49ers Enterprises, with a report from Niclas Borner stating a move to the latter is now edging closer.

And if that were to be the case, it would appear as though Leeds have set their sights on a replacement, given the fact that it would leave them with just two strikers, only one of whom has been able to score goals consistently.

Quite frankly, it’s hard to see Leeds allowing Piroe to leave unless that were to be the case.

Wolves’ Jorgen Strand Larsen has been heavily linked with a move to Leeds, and even more so after rumours emerged over a move to Crystal Palace stalling.

What is the latest on Jorgen Strand Larsen to Leeds?

The future of Strand Larsen has been the biggest talking point of the winter window, with several Premier League clubs having expressed an interest in signing him.

Leeds have made it clear that they won’t budge beyond the £40million mark to bring him to Elland Road, which made the deal look dead in the water after it was reported that Palace had agreed a £50m deal.

However, that bid from the Eagles never actually arrived, which is where the doubt over the move started to emerge, thus sparking optimism for the Whites.

Leeds remain interested in the Norwegian, who looks destined for a move away from Wolves before the transfer deadline on 2 February.
