Leeds United: Controversial Leicester footage shows how fortune strongly favours Daniel Farke right now
Controversial Leicester City footage has emerged from their game against Hull City that may have worked massively in favour of Leeds United.
A video posted on Twitter from the Foxes’ 2-2 draw against the Tigers on Saturday (9 March) shows that Jean Michael Seri should have been sent off for the hosts with about seven minutes of normal time left to play.
The Ivory Coast international blocked Wout Faes’ quick free-rick for Leicester from just a couple of yards away, but the referee decided not to hand the midfielder a second yellow card.
That offence has been a yellow-card offence for a number of years and the away side’s players were understandably furious to see the 32-year-old not receive his marching orders at the MKM Stadium.
That would have given them a decent chance of going on to find a crucial winner in the game to take their lead at the top over Leeds back to five points above.
But that wasn’t to be the case as Hull were allowed to keep all 11 players on the pitch and hold the Championship leaders to a point.
That decision was potentially a huge boost in the Whites’ pursuit of the title as they are now right on the heels of Enzo Maresca’s men, who previously looked to be running away with promotion.
After Daniel Farke led his side to yet another victory against Sheffield Wednesday on Friday (8 March), they are very much the team in the ascendancy at this moment in time.
There had been previous decisions that went against Leeds earlier in the campaign, but the fortunes are well and truly with them at this moment in time.
The German boss will know there is a long way to go and there could be plenty of twists and turns over the next couple of months, but he must be feeling good about their promotion hopes at the moment.
Leicester have won just one of their past five league games, while Ipswich Town conceded two injury-time goals in their 2-1 defeat against Cardiff City on Saturday.
That means it’s been an excellent weekend for the Whites, with their 2-0 win against the Owls moving them back into the automatic promotion places and within touching distance of top spot.
It’s going to be an absorbing few weeks as the promotion picture is sure to throw up some surprises, but Farke will be delighted with how things are going at Elland Road.
In other Leeds United news, a £20million permanent transfer has been mooted for one Whites loanee.
