Leeds United cannot afford to make Manor Solomon mistake in January despite recent form

Leeds United cutting Manor Solomon’s Elland Road stay short in January would be a mistake from the West Yorkshire outfit.

The Israel international was brought in on a season-long loan deal from Tottenham to try and bolster the Whites’ ranks but since his return from injury, the attacker hasn’t been in the same form he showed when he first arrived.

Upon his arrival at Elland Road, the on-loan ace slotted straight into Daniel Farke’s team and was even deemed too good for the Championship by Neil Redfearn.

Since then, however, things have taken a turn for the worse after he was struck down with an injury.

His lack of game time and sharpness have undoubtedly had a role to play in his recent poor form with BBC journalist Jonny Buchan even mooting a possible return to Spurs (Don’t Go To Bed Just Yet, 28 October).

On current form, it’s evident to see why fans may want his loan deal to be ended but at the moment, it feels a bit premature to be considering his return.

Leeds United must keep Manor Solomon at Elland Road

Leeds’ attack is one of the strongest areas of Farke’s squad but that’s likely because of the depth they have within their ranks.

When the likes of Crysencio Summerville and Georginio Rutter were shipped off in the summer, nobody was sure how Leeds would suitably replace them but credit where credit is due, Farke has done a fairly decent job.

Solomon’s addition in the summer was arguably the one that most fans were excited about, he’s had European experience and on paper, could easily be deemed as one of, if not the best players at Elland Road.

While his recent form has left a lot to be desired, it feels like it’s only a matter of time until things turn around and the Israel international gets back on track.

Indeed, it’s still fairly early into the season for any big decisions to be made just yet but at the moment, it feels like the Whites would be silly to sanction Solomon’s exit in January.
