Leeds United avoid Djed Spence revenge as Tottenham Hotspur news emerges
Djed Spence could have looked for revenge as Leeds United terminated the Tottenham Hotspur player’s loan contract six months earlier than expected.
This is not to say the 23-year-old left Elland Road in anger at Daniel Farke and the Leeds hierarchy, but Fabrizio Romano reported that he would be immediately loaned back out by Tottenham.
With Spence’s Championship experience with Middlesbrough, Nottingham Forest and Leeds, there was a very real possibility that Spurs would favour a move to the second tier of English football, which could have implications for the Whites as they push for Premier League promotion.

However, it now looks as though the attacking full-back is set for a move abroad, being included in Spurs’ transfer deal for Genoa’s Radu Dragusin, as per Fabrizio Romano.
With the Romanian centre-back coming to London for a £21.5million transfer fee with add-ons, Spence would go the other way on a loan deal until the end of the season.
If this deal does go through, Leeds will have dodged a Spence-sized bullet. As evidenced by his spells at Riverside Stadium and The City Ground, the young full-back is capable of incredible things.
Across the two spells with the Boro and Forest, Spence earned one promotion to the Premier League, played 116 matches, registered five goals and five assists, and kept 35 clean sheets in that time.
His six-month spell was far more mixed, spending much of his Leeds stay in the medical room. However, once he was fit and ready, he impressed the Elland Road faithful and deserved a spot in Daniel Farke’s starting XI.
He made just seven appearances for Leeds, with the club choosing to terminate his season-long loan this month. Farke started him in five of the last six matches, before being benched in Leeds’ most recent league fixture against Birmingham City.
In other Leeds United news, Celtic want to sign a Leeds attacker in January.
