Leeds United ace Georginio Rutter has opportunity to learn from Thierry Henry after int’l call-up

Few Leeds United players have adjusted to life in the Championship with more ease than Georginio Rutter, as the Frenchman goes from strength to strength at Elland Road.

The striker has been the division’s creator-in-chief, registering more chances created than any other player in England’s second their, while also picking up three goals himself in the opening 14 matches of the campaign.

Rutter’s recent form hasn’t gone unnoticed either, with the attacker receiving his first call-up to the French under-21s squad in over a year as he prepares for matches against Austria and South Korea in the November international break.

While international recognition alone is a marker of just how well the striker has begun the season, the call-up also offers Rutter the chance to work under the management of one of, if not, the best Premier League striker of all time in Thierry Henry.

Henry is the current manager of France Under-21 squad and this is the first time he has picked the Leeds United striker since he took over the position in August. The international break could provide Rutter with the perfect opportunity to pick the former Arsenal forward’s brains.

Rutter has been criticised at times this year for lacking a clinical edge in front of goal, with the 21-year-old wasting a number of excellent chances, missing five big opportunities in the Championship so far and underperforming his xG of 4.97 [Fotmob].

In his last outing for Daniel Farke’s side, the Leeds striker showed signs of improvement, finishing well as expected to give the Whites the win over league leaders Leicester City, but over the international break, he may be able to develop his game to become even more clinical.

Few are better equipped than Henry who has 175 Premier League goals to his name to help the Leeds forward become more relaxed when baring down on goal. He could well return from the international break as a much more complete forward.

The only worry for Leeds supporters now will be whether or not the 21-year-old manages to navigate the extra few games without picking up an injury which would be disastrous for the Whites as they push for the automatic promotion places.

Hopefully, Rutter will return to Elland Road fit, firing and full of confidence after receiving some much-deserved recognition. It could be an exceptional development for Leeds and the Frenchman for the remainder of the campaign.
