MOT View: Permanent exit must make more sense for Leeds 27y/o headed for loan away
January is a chance for Leeds United to clear out some of their deadwood at Elland Road.
Selling some of these players could allow Andrea Radrizzani to unleash Victor Orta with some cash as the financial fair play rules creep in on Championship clubs.
There are a number of options that already don’t have a future at Elland Road, Laurens De Bock and Eunan O’Kane are just two that immediately spring to mind that Marcelo Bielsa won’t use.
Voetbal International recently reported that ADO Den Haag have sealed a loan move for De Bock, and he will become Alan Pardew’s second signing of the January window this month.
The Dutch outlet claims that the 27-year-old will join the relegation-threatened Eredivisie side after his loan move at Sunderland was cancelled midway through the campaign.
It is a no-brainer for Leeds to let De Bock leave West Yorkshire once again, but surely a permanent exit would have been much more ideal.
There is no chance of De Bock ever playing another competitive game for the Whites, and even with Barry Douglas and Ezgjan Alioski both being capable there have been question marks over whether Leeds need another left-back.
Either way, Leeds need signings and they may need to let a couple go to provide funds for that to happen, so letting the 27-year-old leave on loan once again could be a mistake further down the line.
