Leeds’ two new signings rated amid meltdown over deadline day business

Leeds United’s winter transfer window came to a close on Monday, and it was a disappointing deadline day for Daniel Farke.

The Whites are currently six points clear of the Premier League relegation zone, and in a good place to avoid an immediate return to the Championship.

However, Leeds failed to get a single signing over the line on deadline day, and supporters are worried that the lack of incomings could come back to bite them.

Farke’s side did get some business done early in the window though, and MOT Leeds News has ranked every single incoming and outgoing over the last month.

Leeds winter transfers

Facundo Buonanotte (On loan from Brighton) – 7

Facundo Buonanotte was Leeds’ only senior signing of the winter transfer window, joining on loan from Brighton until the end of the season.

The 21-year-old spent the first half of the campaign at Chelsea, but made just one Premier League appearance at Stamford Bridge before being recalled by the Seagulls in January.

It is a relatively low-risk addition for the Whites, given that there is no option or obligation to buy.

Buonanotte has shown glimpses of real quality in recent years and clearly has stacks of potential, but it remains to be seen whether he can make an impact on Leeds’ survival push.

Leonard Ngenge (Permanent from Remo Stars FC) – 5

Leeds have been tracking Leonard Ngenge for some time now, and finally brought the 18-year-old to Elland Road in the winter window.

Ngenge, who already has two caps for Nigeria at international level, will join up with the academy to continue his development.

While it is far too early to judge the impact of the signing, it certainly won’t be one that has any immediate effect on the Leeds squad.

However, if Ngenge realises some of his obvious potential in the future, it could turn out to be a very smart acquisition.

Jack Harrison (Joined Fiorentina on loan) – 6

Jack Harrison has been linked with a Leeds exit for some time, and he finally departed Elland Road in January.

The winger joined Fiorentina on loan until the end of the season, with the Italian side holding a £6million option to buy.

While it is positive that the Whites have finally managed to offload Harrison, they would rather have agreed on a permanent exit.

Farke will be hoping that Fiorentina trigger the buy clause in the summer, as it will save the headache of finding the Englishman a new club.

Harry Gray (Joined Rotherham on loan) – 9

Harry Gray’s loan move to Rotherham United is by far the best deal of the winter window, which perhaps reflects how underwhelming Leeds’ business has been.

The 17-year-old, brother of former Whites midfielder Archie, has very quickly settled into senior football, scoring twice in his first four League One appearances for Rotherham.

Gray clearly has bags of potential, and playing consistent football in the third-tier will be ideal for his development.

Leeds will be hoping the young forward can continue to impress away from Elland Road over the next few months.
