Leeds to suffer low-cost EFL scheme if they fail to win Premier League promotion
Leeds United could be impacted by an EFL change if they fail to gain promotion to the Premier League this season.
The Whites are currently in second place in the Championship after 21 matches but are only a point above third-place Burnley.
Martin Ziegler [The Times, 19 December] claims that the EFL are monitoring the development of a low-cost alternative to VAR called Football Video Support that would give managers two challenges per game.
The report also highlights that system is still in its infancy and will need to undergo more testing after being trialed in the women’s under-17 World Cup.
The Whites need to make sure they are promoted so they are not affected by any potential rule changes.
Leeds United need to get used to VAR anyway
Daniel Farke’s side could be impacted by any proposed rule changes if they fail to win promotion to the top flight.
However, they will need to get used to VAR anyway if are promoted to the Premier League.
They are currently in a good position to be in the top flight next season as it stands, although that could change if standards drop.

Farke needs to ensure that his side are focused on their own results rather than the performances of the teams around them.
The Whites will hope to get back to winning ways against Oxford United after the disappointing 1-1 draw with Preston last weekend (14 December).
Should they win on Saturday (21 December) they will have momentum over the festive period and could increase their grip on an automatic promotion spot.
In other Leeds news, the club must avoid making a £25 million mistake that could cost them promotion.
