Leeds ‘to be furious’ as Chelsea massively dent Premier League return preparations

Leeds United chiefs are unlikely to be impressed with Chelsea as pre-season plans are drawn up.

The Whites already have a number of games prepared for the summer ahead of their return to the Premier League in the new campaign.

This will certainly be an interesting period, with a number of signings expected, despite earning 100 points and promotion last season.

While Daniel Farke looks to prepare his side for the top division, it appears that Chelsea could be set to stunt any progress made throughout the summer months.

Chelsea impact Leeds United in pre-season preparations

As it stands, no activity is underway, regardless of the most recent strong links to Udinese centre-back Jaka Bijol [Daily Star, 13 June, page 57].

Regardless of who signs for the LS11 club, there will be a need for a positive group of friendly games to help build new relationships.

This looks set to see the Whites come up against the likes of Manchester United and Villarreal, with the latter kicking off at Elland Road on 2 August.

As it stands, this will be the penultimate pre-season clash for Farke’s side, with a clash against AC Milan at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin marked for just a week later (9 August).

This looks to be the perfect final test for Leeds to face a top side before kickstarting their new Premier League campaign.

Now the likes of Paraag Marathe and the 49ers are bound to be raging after discovering that the Rossoneri have now booked another friendly against Chelsea one day later on 10 August, according to Gazzetta dello Sport, via Milan Press (14 June).

Leeds United to fume with Chelsea v AC Milan update

With a difference of potentially less than 24 hours between games, a makeshift and weakened team is likely to be used against the Whites, as Milan look to save their best players’ fitness.

This will leave Farke with very little to play for in the final game of the summer, before the season starts, in an understandably disappointing development.

With the Germans’ men preparing to play against some of the best players in the world, playing against a second-string Serie A outfit seems rather pointless.

It will certainly be interesting now to see what the Whites do and whether they go ahead with this clash or pen in another opponent.
