Leeds risk disaster vs Manchester United as Sebastiaan Bornauw concerns emerge

Leeds United will hope to continue their resurgence against Manchester United in the Premier League on Sunday.

Ruben Amorim’s team will travel to Elland Road on 4 December, with the Whites on a six-game unbeaten run.

Leeds were resolute in their 0-0 draw against Liverpool on New Year’s Day, with Sebastiaan Bornauw getting his first start since moving to the West Yorkshire outfit in the summer.

Daniel Farke could be in for a massive headache regarding his starting lineup against the Red Devils due to fitness issues and unavailability.

Sebastiaan Bornauw doubts shared for Leeds vs Manchester United

Farke expects to make some late decisions with Bornauw and Ilia Gruev after their starts at Anfield.

The Belgium international lasted 83 minutes before being substituted in the Liverpool draw, with the German manager now set to make some late decisions regarding team selection for Man United’s trip to Elland Road.

While the 49-year-old head coach hopes the centre-back can recover quickly, fans in LS11 will certainly be holding their breath.

Speaking in his pre-Man United press conference on 2 January, Farke said, “For Sebastiaan, first game in the starting lineup, for Ilia, first game since a while, they have invested a lot.”

The German manager added, “I hope they can recover quick and well, and we will see probably some late decisions also for Sunday when we have the earliest possible kick-off straight after breakfast, more or less. So, we will find solutions.”

Joe Rodon is unavailable at Elland Road due to injury, which makes Bornauw’s fitness even more critical at the West Yorkshire outfit.

Daniel Farke may be forced into change vs Manchester United which could be costly

Ethan Ampadu is suspended against Man United after picking up a yellow card at Anfield, which was his fifth in the Premier League.

If Bornauw can’t make the starting lineup, Farke may have to revert to a back four, which could potentially be disastrous.

The Wales international is capable of slotting into centre-back, but without him, Rodon and possibly the former VfL Wolfsburg centre-back, the German manager isn’t left with many options.

Fans in LS11 will hope the Belgian defender is fit enough to play with a packed fixture list in January.
