Leeds private talks for new manager likely underway as Brendan Rodgers angles for job

Daniel Farke is living dangerously at Leeds United and this week feels pivotal for his future at Elland Road.

Leeds were beaten 3-2 by Manchester City on Saturday, falling to their fourth Premier League defeat in a row.

Farke was under heavy sack pressure before the Man City game, and despite an improved second-half performance at the Etihad Stadium, his job is still very much at risk.

On Wednesday, Leeds face Chelsea at Elland Road in another tough test, and they will be looking to snatch an unlikely result and move out of the Premier League relegation zone.

Leeds already searching for Daniel Farke replacement

Just three days after Chelsea travel to West Yorkshire, Leeds will take on Liverpool, as the Premier League schedule conjures up its worst at just the wrong time for Farke.

By Sunday, the Whites will have faced four of the top six from last season in just two weeks, after recent games against Man City and Aston Villa.

If Farke fails to get a result against either Liverpool or Chelsea, then it will be six Premier League defeats in a row for Leeds, and surely the end of the road for the German manager.

Paraag Marathe and the rest of the hierarchy at Elland Road may have already written off the next two games, given the quality of the opposition.

If that is the case, then they will already be working behind the scenes to find a replacement for Farke, so that they can get the new appointment finalised as quickly as possible.

Brendan Rodgers in the running for Leeds job

Brendan Rodgers is eager to return to Premier League management after dramatically resigning from Celtic earlier this season.

With Farke under pressure, Rodgers has been touted as a potential option for Leeds, who are eager to avoid an immediate return to the Championship.

The Northern Irishman has a wealth of top-flight experience, across spells at Swansea City, Liverpool and Leicester City.

Due to his previous achievements and the fact that he is currently out of work, Rodgers stands out as the obvious candidate for Leeds if they do decide to part ways with Farke.
