Patrick Bamford left Leeds this summer after seven years at Elland Road.

Leeds mutually terminated Bamford's contract in August when it became clear they could not get a transfer fee for the striker.

Bamford had been rumoured to be joining Sheffield United, but it now looks as if he has found a new club in Europe.

Getafe are set to sign Bamford on a free transfer, with the 32-year-old joining the side that sits eighth in La Liga.

Leeds made correct call on Patrick Bamford

While Bamford hadn't delivered in recent seasons, many people thought Leeds were foolish to let him go.

Leeds were no longer able to rely on the striker, not just with his goal-scoring but also with his availability.

  • Bamford did not score a single goal last season in the Championship
  • He didn't start a game, only featuring 17 times in the league
  • Bamford hadn't hit double figures for Leeds since 20/21

Bamford was on quite a large salary at Elland Road, which wasn't reflective of his performances on the pitch.

Leeds now have higher-quality options in attacking areas that suit the team much more than the Englishman had been.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Noah Okafor upgrades on Patrick Bamford

Dominic Calvert-Lewin got his first goal in Leeds colours in the 3-1 win at Wolves on Saturday and impressed fans.

The summer signing delivered a brilliant centre-forward play, and his headed goal showed exactly what he is all about.

Noah Okafor also scored against Wolves, finding the back of the net for the first time since his £18million move in the summer.

Okafor's dribbling ability and willingness to take his man on impressed Leeds fans who are eager to see more.

With Calver-Lewin and Okafor now up and running for Leeds, the decision to let Bamford now is looking even better, with the summer signings ready to take the team to the next level.
