Leeds United have huge Elland Road chance in Premier League relegation battle

Leeds United aren’t quite out of the Premier League relegation woods just yet.

Daniel Farke‘s side currently sit 15th in the Premier League table ahead of Tottenham’s Thursday night clash with Crystal Palace, just three points above West Ham in 18th.

Leeds are now winless in their last four league games too, with back-to-back 1-0 Elland Road defeats at the hands of Man City and Sunderland respectively.

As such, whilst there isn’t a sense of major panic in West Yorkshire at the moment, everyone connected with the Whites are now looking over their shoulders as teams above them begin to pull away.

Leeds have favourable remaining Elland Road fixtures

When trying to accomplish any form of league table success, whether it be attempting to thrive or survive in a division, making your home ground a fortress is essential.

Elland Road’s walls have proven to be very difficult for opposition invaders to scale for many years, with the electric atmosphere always making it a challenging and intimidating environment to play in.

Indeed, 22 of Leeds’ 31 Premier League points so far this season have been won at their iconic home, with just one win from their 14 away games this term.

So, Farke and his players will be leaning on their good home form to see them to safety between now and the end of the campaign, and they will be licking their lips at their remaining Elland Road schedule.

Four of Leeds’ final nine games of the season are at home, and seventh-placed Brentford are the best team on paper yet to tick off Elland Road this term.

Seemingly doomed pair Wolves and Burnley also still have to come to West Yorkshire, whilst Leeds’ final home game of the campaign will see them play an inconsistent Brighton side, respectively.

Leeds should target 40 points from final four home games

With 40 points being the historical magic number to make sure of Premier League survival, Leeds should be looking to reach that figure from their remaining home games alone.

Crystal Palace, Man United, Bournemouth, Tottenham and West Ham are all still places they’ll have to travel to before the end of the season, with all of them presenting a tough challenge in their own ways.

Brentford looks a tough game on paper, but their other three clashes with Burnley, Wolves and Brighton respectively, offer a big chance to add nine points to their tally.

If so, that would take them to bang on 40 points, and that would surely be enough to ensure they keep their place in the top flight for 2026-27.
