‘Leeds get Manor Solomon answer from Tottenham’ as new transfer talks held

Manor Solomon played a vital part as Leeds won the Championship last season, but he has returned to Tottenham.

Leeds signed the winger on loan from Spurs and he certainly proved good value, as he popped up with important goals in the run-in.

Daniel Farke wanted to bring Solomon back from Tottenham, but a deal has so far proved difficult, with Spurs wanting a permanent fee to let the 25-year-old leave.

With the move for Solomon at an impasse, Leeds have now targeted another winger, and this could mean that their interest in their former loanee has cooled.

Leeds interested in Igor Paixão

Leeds may no longer believe that a deal for Solomon is possible, and have now identified Igor Paixão as his replacement.

The Brazilian has thrived for Dutch side Feyenoord, and it has been reported that Leeds made contact with Paixão‘s agents over a potential move in recent days.

Like Solomon, Paixão plays on the left wing, and with 18 goals last season, he can provide the output in front of goal that Leeds would lack without the Spurs attacker.

Should Paixão arrive, it would likely mean that interest in Solomon ends, but it may be the case that Spurs want to keep him for new manager Thomas Frank, and have already communicate this to the Whites.

Paixão to miss start of the season

No matter where Paixão is playing at the start of next season, he will miss the beginning of the campaign, as he has now picked up a muscle injury.

This will also see him miss the entirety of pre-season, which could be a problem for Leeds if they do pursue a deal.

While Paixão may have more quality than Solomon, as well as experience in the UEFA Champions League, his injury could mean he takes time to adapt, when Leeds need to hit the ground running.

Solomon could come in and pick up where he left off, but it now appears that he may no longer be targeted as other options are explored.
