Leeds get brilliant ‘green light’ to sign Leif Davis in major Ipswich transfer raid

Daniel Farke needs to prepare his squad for life in the Premier League.

The boss led his side to automatic promotion on the second time of asking, with the job of securing safety in the top flight up next.

Farke will know that he will have to make several additions to his squad in order to provide the required strength to meet the challenge.

Leeds will have to look for a left-back

Junior Firpo is one man who sees his contract at Elland Road expire at the end of the season, leaving doubts over his future.

There have been conversations between the two parties, but as it stands, the 28-year-old looks more likely to leave West Yorkshire, despite his side’s promotion to the Premier League.

This leaves a clear area of recruitment for the Whites to focus on ahead of the summer transfer window and the boss certainly hasn’t been neglecting this.

During the winter transfer window, it was reported that Archie Brown was someone on the list of targets, while Leif Davis has also been linked with a return to Leeds.

Farke may have just been given a green light towards pushing for a deal for Davis, though, after Brown suggested that he isn’t too keen on leaving Gent at the end of the season.

Davis would be a great addition at Leeds

As Leeds head back into the Premier League, the boss will know the importance of having players with the necessary experience in his squad.

Although Davis hasn’t quite been at his best this season, he has played a full term of top-flight football in a struggling side.

Leeds are trying to replace Firpo.

With Ipswich heading back down to the Championship, the Tractor Boys are likely to lose some of their star players and former White Davis could be what is needed in West Yorkshire.

At 25 years old, he is at a prime time in his career to be playing at the top and, given he has been a Leeds man before, it could be a seamless addition.

Brown would no doubt be an excellent addition to Farke’s side, too, but the boss can’t afford to get bogged down by focusing on players who are not open to the move away.
