Leeds fans will hate what Patrick Bamford did with Chris Wilder after his Sheffield United debut

Patrick Bamford’s move to Sheffield United has certainly caused controversy.

The striker is a modern-day legend at Elland Road, overseeing two promotions during his long stay at the West Yorkshire club.

However, after Bamford was released by Leeds in the summer, the attacker struggled to find a new club.

In November, Bamford was signed by Sheffield United on a short-term deal, joining Leeds’ rivals in a controversial move.

Now, the striker made his debut in the Steel City derby on Sunday, where he was caught celebrating with Chris Wilder at full-time.

Patrick Bamford celebrates with Chris Wilder in Steel City derby

Bamford and Wilder had plenty of history before the two partnered up at Sheffield United.

At Leeds, Bamford led a controversial chant targeted at Wilder last season as they secured their place in the Premier League.

Yet, the striker was more than happy to work under the manager this season, with Bamford making his debut in Sheffield United’s 3-0 win over Wednesday.

Coming on in the 70th minute, the attacker helped see out the win in the derby.

Then, at full-time, ITV Football posted on X on 23 November a video of both Bamford and Wilder celebrating together in front of the travelling fans.

Leeds supporters will obviously be fuming over this incident, especially with it coming at a rival club.

For many, it is a betrayal, with the striker clearly enjoying his time at one of West Yorkshire’s side’s biggest rivals.

His celebration with Wilder only serves to rub salt in the wounds in what has been a difficult weekend for the Peacocks.

How did Bamford perform vs Sheffield Wednesday?

According to Fotmob on 23 November, Bamford had a solid debut for the Blades.

In his 20 minutes on the pitch, the striker created one chance and also almost scored with his 0.4 xG shot, unable to find the net.

Now, Bamford will be aiming to quickly find the net at Sheffield United and end his terrible goalscoring drought.

If he is able to hit form, the Blades may consider extending his contract until the end of the season.
