Leeds fans have every right to question 49ers’ intentions after latest transfer news
The 49ers Enterprises are doing plenty of January business, just not at Elland Road.
Survival is looking likely for Leeds this season, even after their heartbreaking last-minute defeat away to Newcastle last time out.
However, that can change in an instant, and the Whites are still in need of January reinforcements if they are to keep pushing themselves away from the bottom three.
As of the time of writing, Leeds are yet to conclude any incoming business, and it seems as though nothing is imminent.
However, the 49ers have still been busy, and it’s a familiar feeling again.
Leeds face 49ers neglect yet again
In the end, things have worked out fairly well in recent weeks, but Leeds had a dreadful end to the summer transfer window.
The Whites failed to conclude any deals for further attacking reinforcements, despite it being blindingly obvious that they needed them.
The 49ers tried to use PSR as an excuse, despite the fact that they made a late bid to sign Harry Wilson from Fulham on deadline day.
Now, it’s a similar scenario.
Leeds need some extra quality to make sure of their survival in the Premier League, but while the Whites sit twiddling their thumbs, Rangers have been doing business, and plenty of it.
The Light Blues are in talks with Sunderland over the arrivals of Dan Neil and Romaine Mundle, while two other additions are expected in the coming days.
The Gers have submitted bids totalling over £10million so far, while Leeds are yet to push forward with any interest in any of their targets.
Leeds have two clear priorities in January
It may not seem like it based on recent form, but this Leeds side is still lacking in two key areas.
The Whites are still in desperate need of attacking arrivals, with Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Brenden Aaronson the only two players who meet the standards right now.
However, Leeds also need to sign a goalkeeper, desperately.
Lucas Perri has had a debut season to forget, and that has even led to Daniel Farke calling him out in a recent press conference.
Without addressing those two concerns, Leeds could still slide down the table, and the 49ers would have serious issues to deal with then.
