Nikoloa Krstovic is becoming a household name for Leeds United supporters this summer.

Sebastian Bornauw was the latest addition at Elland Road, though Gabriel Gudmundsson looks set to change that, with the Swedish international due to sign for the Whites.

His arrival will serve as the third defensive signing made by Leeds this summer, who will now surely turn their attention to addressing the other areas of concern within the squad.

The biggest area that needs strengthening this summer will be their forward line, and the Whites have identified Krstovic as a target to rectify that.

Lecce set new pricetag for Krstovic transfer

Krstovic has made it clear that he wants to move to Roma this summer, despite interest from other European sides, including Leeds.

A report from La Repubblica, as relayed by Roma Press (7 July), states that the Italian giants have now reached an agreement with his agent in regard to wages, though they are still haggling over the price needed for Lecce to sanction the deal.

That price is now believed to have been set at £34.4million, which for Leeds would be an expensive gamble not worth taking.

The Whites now surely have to turn their attention elsewhere in their attempts to bring a new striker to Elland Road this summer, with it looking like this saga is coming close to an end.

Leeds need more quality in the final third

With Manor Solomon's return to Tottenham, Leeds are categorically weaker in the final third than they were in the Championship, and they will be fully aware of that.

Additions are needed, but they need to be the right ones, and blowing almost £35m on Krstovic would be a huge gamble in an area of the pitch where they can't really afford to take one.

The Whites need someone whom they can rely on to get the goals, and they will no doubt have several targets in mind.
