Junior Firpo recorded giving six-word message to Leeds United chief on bus parade

Leeds United players were jovial as they celebrated their Championship title triumph with an open-top bus parade on Monday.

Junior Firpo participated in the celebrations, but he has yet to sign a new contract with the Elland Road club ahead of next season.

The left-back has enjoyed a stellar campaign with Leeds this season, notching four goals and 10 assists in 32 Championship appearances.

After shining in the second tier this term, Firpo appears ready for the challenge of a Premier League return, should he agree fresh terms in West Yorkshire.

The Dominican Republic international played a key role in recent wins over Stoke and Bristol City, scoring against the Potters and creating an assist against the Robins.

Meanwhile, Jayden Bogle filmed his teammates celebrating in their parade on a live Instagram video on Monday (5 May), and Firpo was heard saying: “Paraag [Marathe], send me the ting man” about a new contract.

Firpo’s comments came after Ethan Ampadu chanted “Real Betis” repeatedly to the crowd, leading many to think that could be his next club.

The full-back has been linked with a return to the Spanish side, where he began his career before moving to Barcelona and then Leeds.

Leeds fans will love Firpo’s comments

Firpo has enjoyed a stellar campaign in the Championship with Leeds, helping Daniel Farke’s men on their way to lifting the second-tier title for the second time in five years.

Thanks to the 28-year-old’s impressive exploits this term, the Elland Road faithful would be gutted to see the left-back leave West Yorkshire this summer, especially on a free transfer.

But Firpo’s comments on Bogle’s video suggest that a new contract is on the table for the Dominican Republic international – news that Leeds fans would love.

He has shown his attacking class this season and was one of the top assist-makers in the second tier this term.

Firpo previously struggled in the Premier League for Leeds before the Whites were relegated from the top flight in 2023, but he has proven that he is ready for the challenge of the top tier once more.

If Farke’s side can solidify their Premier League status next season, Firpo will likely play a key role in that if he pens a new deal at Elland Road.
