Joel Piroe exit clarity emerges at Leeds United as Crystal Palace agree late deal

Joel Piroe has been linked with an exit from Leeds United this winter.

Just as it did in the summer, the current transfer window looks as though it is going to fizzle out for Leeds United.

The Whites have been linked with several players across various positions, but as things stand, Facundo Buonanotte is the only arrival at Elland Road, and there is a strong chance it remains that way beyond the deadline on 2 February.

However, the topic of outgoings is still strong, and among those linked with an exit from Leeds is Piroe, but the latest news may have reduced the likelihood of that happening.

Crystal Palace agree Jorgen Strand Larsen deal

Leeds have been hot on the tails of Wolves this winter, with hopes of bringing Jorgen Strand Larsen to Elland Road.

However, that deal is slowly fading away from reality, after it was revealed that Crystal Palace have agreed a deal for the Norwegian striker.

The Eagles are set to pay up to £50million to land his arrival, with Strand Larsen potentially set to replace Jean Philippe Mateta.

That deal could end speculation regarding Piroe for several reasons, but perhaps none more so than the fact that Leeds were never going to let him leave without a replacement, and with Strand Larsen now seemingly out of the picture, it seems unlikely that they will get that replacement.

But also because Crystal Palace had been loosely linked with Piroe, though again, with the arrival of Strand Larsen, that interest will certainly have diminished.

Rangers are the latest club to be linked with a move for the Elland Road star, but without that replacement, it’s incredibly difficult to see a deal being ratified.

What will the future hold for Joel Piroe at Leeds?

If he remains at Elland Road this winter, which is looking likely, Piroe will have no choice but to fight for his place under Daniel Farke.

And given the current tactical style that utilises two up front, there is every chance that he could stake a claim for his place in the starting 11.

However, beyond that, it’s hard to see the Dutchman having a future at Elland Road, given the fact that the attacking areas will be a position of priority in the summer.

Piroe has had plenty of interest from the Championship this winter, and that will be his most likely destination should an exit happen in the next six months.
