Joel Piroe could be handed different Leeds United role amid Brenden Aaronson flight development
Daniel Farke could hand Joel Piroe a different Leeds United against Sheffield United as Brenden Aaronson only returned to the UK on Thursday morning (17 October).
The Whites are preparing to face the Blades at Elland Road on Friday 18 October and will be hopeful of having as many players available as possible.
This comes after Ilia Gruev and Ethan Ampadu suffered injuries which left the squad very light in the centre of the pitch.
Farke could be handed a further blow as his international stars look set to return to Thorp Arch with Aaronson potentially arriving too late to start.
Joel Piroe could start in Brenden Aaronson role for Leeds United v Sheffield United
The USMNT ace looks set to return to England after a spell with the national team after clashes against Panama and Mexico.
The 23-year-old took a chartered flight with the likes of Raul Jimenez, Antonee Robinson and Josh Sargent, but only arrived in the UK on Thursday [TUDN, 17 October].
With a top-of-the-table clash against Sheffield United just a day later, Farke may be forced into starting Piroe in the number ten role in place of the ex-Salzburg star.
The Dutchman has played in this role in the past and certainly has the ability to start in behind the striker and cause problems for Chris Wilder’s side.
This would represent a chance from last time out against Sunderland as the 25-year-old started in and scored from the number nine position.

Piroe could now be dropped further back with Mateo Joseph or potentially Patrick Bamford available to come in from the start in the striker role.
The clash at Elland Road may just come too soon for Aaronson as his body clock returns to normality after a trip to the Americas.
