Joe Rothwell faces ‘harsh’ Leeds United axe v Coventry after injury news
Leeds United manager Daniel Farke faces a harsh selection decision when his side travel to Coventry on Wednesday evening.
Pascal Struijk could return to the starting line-up after making his comeback from injury in a 12-minute cameo in the 7-0 win over Cardiff City.
That leaves the German with a tough call to make as Ethan Ampadu, who featured at centre-back in the Dutchman’s absence, likely returns to midfield.
Joe Rothwell could be the one to miss out on a starting berth given how crucial Ampadu is to the Whites and the tremendous form of Ao Tanaka.
Rothwell unfortunate to miss out for Leeds United
The Bournemouth loanee would be an unfortunate casualty of the abundance of riches that Farke has at his disposal in the middle of the park if he is left out at the CBS Arena.
The 30-year-old has emerged as a reliable option for the Elland Road outfit while Ampadu was out with injury forming a formidable partnership with Tanaka.
However, the Japan international’s stunning form means that he is expected to get the nod over the veteran for the contest on Wednesday.

It is a no-brainer to get Struijk and Ampadu back into the side and into their normal positions given that they are two of the best players in the Championship
One thing is for sure, Farke will not be concerned by the selection dilemma, if anything he will welcome the competition it will bring.
It could even take his squad up a level and take the Whites to an automatic promotion spot at the end of the season.
