Joe Gelhardt robbed by decision away from Leeds United as announcement made

Joe Gelhardt has been in the best form of his career at Hull City since departing Leeds United on loan this summer.

Leeds allowed Gelhardt to join Hull City after it was evident that the forward was going to see limited game time handed to him by Daniel Farke this campaign.

The Whites’ promotion to the Premier League meant that the starlet would face problems breaking into the starting lineup, and a loan seemed the best option.

Gelhardt seems to have found his feet at Hull, and a straight loan deal means that the Whites could yet see the best version of the striker in 2026.

However, all parties will surely be baffled at the latest news involving Gelhardt.

Joe Gelhardt snubbed in Championship POTM decision

Leeds have a limited window to recall Gelhardt if they truly wish to bring the 23-year-old back to LS11 early.

Suggestions point towards the Englishman staying at Hull for the entirety of this campaign, as his numbers prove he is living up to high expectations.

After his sizzling form for the Tigers, Gelhardt was nominated for November’s Sky Bet Championship Player of the Month award.

On Friday, the EFL announced that Coventry City’s Ellis Simms won the award, despite Gelhardt scoring four times and picking up an assist in November.

The striker helped Hull to three big wins during the month, and his form makes it an even more questionable decision.

Regardless, Leeds are in a healthy position and can sit back and enjoy Gelhardt’s rise for the rest of the season.

Leeds’ Premier League future is secure because of Gelhardt, here’s why

Leeds are trying to stay in the Premier League, and Farke has done tremendously well to pull big results off against Chelsea and Liverpool.

However, there’s still a long way to go, and the Whites know that their top-flight status beyond this season is uncertain.

Should Leeds get relegated come the end of the campaign, the Whites will have full confidence in bouncing back because of Gelhardt.

It’s not clear whether Gelhardt will be able to make the transition to the Premier League at this stage, but he can spearhead another promotion for the Whites.
