James Justin could be handed golden opportunity after Jayden Bogle incident vs Wolves
Leeds United picked up their first away win of the season against Wolves on Saturday.
Daniel Farke’s side came from a goal down to win 3-1 and emphatically ended Leeds’ goal drought from open play in the Premier League.
Noah Okafor, Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Anton Stach were all on the scoresheet, as all three summer signings scored their first goal for the Whites.
It was not a perfect afternoon, however, as the travelling Leeds supporters were left concerned by something they saw from Jayden Bogle in the second half.

Potential Jayden Bogle injury could pave way for James Justin’s first Leeds start
Bogle initially struggled at Leeds following his move from Sheffield United, but the right-back has gone on to become one of the Whites’ best players.
There were concerns from the fanbase as to whether Bogle would be good enough to make the step up to the top-flight, but so far, the 25-year-old has proven to be more than capable.
That is why Leeds fans watched on with bated breath as Bogle went down injured and was forced to be replaced by Justin in the 83rd minute.
Considering the manner in which Bogle exited the pitch, needing assistance from the medical team, it seems unlikely that he will start in the game against Bournemouth at Elland Road next Saturday.
This means Justin could be handed his first start by Farke, with the summer signing potentially having an opportunity to establish himself in the starting XI in Bogle’s absence.
With how hard some can find it to break into the team under the German manager, Justin could be on the verge of receiving a golden opportunity that he cannot afford to waste.

How do James Justin and Jayden Bogle compare?
Whilst Justin’s past performances have attracted praise from Micah Richards, there are questions as to whether the former England international is past his best.
Whilst injuries have plagued Justin in the past, he was consistently available for Leicester last season, featuring in 36 of their 38 games as the Foxes were ultimately relegated.
James Justin (Premier League) | Stats (2024/25 season) | Jayden Bogle (Championship) |
36 | Appearences | 44 |
2 | Goals | 6 |
2 | Assists | 4 |
1.3 | Interceptions per game | 0.8 |
1.6 | Tackles per game | 2.2 |
3.2 | Clearances per game | 1.8 |
5.0 (57%) | Total duels won per game | 5.6 (54%) |
The data suggests that Bogle is considerably better going forward, with both players being comparable from a defensive point of view.
However, it is worth considering that Justin was coming up against a far higher calibre of competition than Bogle last season.
With Bournemouth and Tottenham next up for Leeds at Elland Road, relying on Justin’s superior Premier League experience may actually be a help and not a hindrance.
