Jaka Bijol to demand answers from Daniel Farke after Leeds United draw vs Aston Villa

Leeds United dropped two points late on as Tammy Abraham equalised for Aston Villa in the Premier League on Saturday.

Villa Park welcomed Daniel Farke and his team on 21 February, with Anton Stach giving the Whites the lead at around the half-hour mark with a sublime free kick.

Abraham ended up breaking the hearts of the travelling supporters with his goal in the 88th minute in the 1-1 draw.

The German manager made quite a few changes to his starting lineup in B6, with Jaka Bijol starting on the bench before coming off immediately after the break.

Jaka Bijol will surely question Daniel Farke team selection in Aston Villa vs Leeds United

Farke went with a backline of James Justin, Joe Rodon and Pascal Struijk, with Jayden Bogle and Gabriel Gundmundsson as his wing-backs.

The former Leicester City star has slowly become a key player at Elland Road, and it could be telling that he was chosen ahead of Bijol in the team.

Last summer, the former Slovenia international signed for the Whites, and after initially struggling for minutes, he found his place in the German manager’s plans.

The switch to a fluid 5-3-2 formation has helped the West Yorkshire outfit bring stability to their defence and has improved the ex-Udinese defender’s prospects.

Bijol was sidelined for a few weeks with an injury recently, and since then Justin’s influence in the starting lineup has increased, clearly threatening the centre-back’s status in LS11.

Daniel Farke may have new transfer headache at Elland Road

Bijol will surely evaluate his situation at Leeds come the end of the season, and Farke may have to convince the 27-year-old to stay.

The Slovenia international undoubtedly wouldn’t want to play as a backup centre-back for the Whites, and could potentially look for guaranteed minutes elsewhere.

In the coming months, the German manager may have questions to answer about Bijol’s role and future at the West Yorkshire outfit.

The Peacocks need quality in depth, especially in their defence after the switch to five at the back, but it remains to be seen whether they can hold on to some of the players who aren’t necessarily regular starters.
