Isaac Schmidt ‘to demand Leeds United exit’ as Swiss chiefs make guarantee
Leeds United could potentially be forced to sell Switzerland international Isaac Schmidt this transfer window.
The 25-year-old signed for the Whites last summer, but played second fiddle to Jayden Bogle in the Championship-winning campaign.
Schmidt knows he has to fight at Elland Road to get regular minutes after making just 12 league appearances last season.
Daniel Farke’s team drew against Manchester United during pre-season in Sweden, but the Swiss defender was unavailable due to a minor knock.

Switzerland to include Schmidt in World Cup squad if he gets regular minutes at Leeds United
Swiss figureheads have told Schmidt that he will be included in the World Cup squad if he gets regular minutes in the coming months, according to Leeds Live.
The news outlet reports (21 July) that the 25-year-old’s desire for game time has increased at Elland Road due to next year’s tournament.
It’s been claimed that the right-back is mindful of his situation, and while the Whites haven’t yet made a decision, Farke values the defender’s presence in the squad.
Competition | Appearances | Minutes played |
Championship | 12 | 71 |
Bogle was one of the best players in the Championship last season, and it wouldn’t be surprising to see him be the first-choice for the German manager on the right side of the defence.
With the 24-year-old Englishman’s importance evident at the West Yorkshire outfit, Schmidt has a big decision to make on his future.
Farke needs a backup for Bogle in the team, and they will undoubtedly need to find a reinforcement as the Switzerland international could potentially demand an exit from Elland Road.

Leeds can’t blame Schmidt if transfer wanted
The Whites have focused on strengthening their defence this summer by signing the likes of Jaka Bijol from Udinese, Sebastiaan Bornauw and Gabriel Gudmundsson.
Leeds fans can’t blame Schmidt if he seeks an exit, as the prospect of playing in the World Cup looms large.
Someone like Ethan Ampadu or Joe Rodon could potentially be deployed at right-back in the absence of Bogle after Bijol’s arrival.
The Switzerland international’s future will certainly be one to keep an eye on, and it remains to be seen what the future holds in LS11.
