Isaac Schmidt agrees Leeds exit – Three replacements Farke could sign

Leeds are set to part ways with Isaac Schmidt just one year after he joined the club.

Schmidt joined from FC St Gallen last August, as a versatile full-back capable of playing almost anywhere on the pitch.

Leeds already had a strong option at right-back in Jayden Bogle, and this meant that Schmidt failed to start any of his 12 appearances in the Championship.

Werder Bremen are close to agreeing a loan deal for Schmidt, but Daniel Farke wants to sign a replacement before sanctioning his exit, and MOT Leeds News now picks out three options who could replace him as an experienced backup right-back.

Vladimir Coufal

West Ham parted ways with cult hero Vladimir Coufal at the end of last season, and the veteran is yet to find a new club.

The 32-year-old made 180 appearances for West Ham, both at right-back and left-back, and was recently linked with Leeds ahead of their return to the Premier League.

With 20 assists in that time, Coufal provides creativity from right-back, and will bring a lot of experience and leadership to the Leeds squad if he joins on a free.

Nelson Semedo

Like Coufal, Semedo would come with a lot of Premier League experience, having departed Wolves at the end of his contract.

The former Barcelona defender made 182 appearances for Wolves in an impressive spell, and with 34 appearances last season, established himself as a key player.

Semedo has the quality to fiercely compete with Bogle for a starting spot, while he could also provide cover on the left if necessary, but it remains to be seen what kind of wages he will command from interested clubs this summer.

Davide Calabria

Former AC Milan captain Davide Calabria is still in his prime years, but departed San Siro at the end of last season.

Calabria led Milan to a Serie A title and several cups, and with 272 appearances for the Italian giants, he would arrive as an experienced leader and big name if he were to join on a free.

Like Schmidt, Calabria has also played at centre-back and left-back, and could be a decisive signing if he is willing to join.
