How much money Leeds United could save if Mateo Joseph seals transfer wish
Leeds United now look set to lose Mateo Joseph after his failed spell at Elland Road.
The Spaniard has struggled at the Yorkshire club since his move to England in 2022 and has never found form.
Joseph has only netted six times at Leeds in 73 appearances, a disappointing return despite his age.
As a result, Joseph has been linked away from Leeds, with Real Betis showing interest in the 21-year-old.
Now, if a departure is to be confirmed, Daniel Farke’s side are likely to save millions.

Leeds to save at least £2.34m on Joseph departure
It was confirmed by journalist Beren Cross via X (22 July) that Joseph has officially requested to leave Leeds United.
Previous reports have suggested that Farke wants £10 million for Joseph. However, whatever the fee is, the Yorkshire club are going to save millions in wages.

According to Capology (22 July), Joseph is currently on £15k a week, with his contract set to run until June 2028.
As a result, between now and the end of his contract, the striker is set to pick up £2.34m.
On top of this, the youngster could easily pick up thousands from bonuses or clauses, which could be triggered by something as simple as appearing on the bench.
Therefore, with the Premier League being dominated by PSR, getting these wages off their books is vital.
Where Joseph currently ranks among Leeds United’s highest earners
Whilst Joseph is no doubt earning a decent sum at Leeds United, Capalogy believes he is still among the lowest earners at the Yorkshire club.
The website claims the 21-year-old is actually the Yorkshire club’s fifth lowest earner in the first team, not including the new signings.
In comparison, Jack Harrison is currently the Peacocks’ biggest earner at £90k-a-week.
Daniel James and Patrick Bamford follow the former Everton loanee at £70k-a-week, with Leeds spending £37.1m on wages per annum.
