Hopes of permanent Joe Rodon transfer ramp up at Leeds United
Joe Rodon has hinted he may be in favour of a permanent move to Leeds United in new quotes emerging ahead of the Championship clash against Norwich City on 24 January.
Rodon’s impressive performances at Elland Road so far this season have led to speculation about whether he would stay beyond his loan deal, and he has now revealed he is loving every minute at Leeds.
This has come after Daniel Farke revealed the club were working on the deal behind the scenes, although he clarified the talks are not urgent and will likely ramp up towards the end of the Welshman’s loan spell.
Speaking to the Yorkshire Evening Post [23 January], Rodon shared: “I can only be grateful for the opportunities I’ve been given from the coach and I think I feel in a good place. Not just me, I feel like we’ve got a really good balanced team here and I’m enjoying every minute of it. Personally just loving every minute. Long may it continue.”
His 25 Championship appearances so far this season have seen the defender become a crucial part of the way Leeds play, building from the back with his composure in possession, but also not afraid to get stuck in with some defensive action.
However, the deal may prove pricey, with Phil Hay reporting for The Athletic [22 January] that the Premier League outfit are likely to raise their asking price after his impressive displays.
It was reported that Leeds enquired about a permanent deal in the summer and were given a valuation of £15million, but with that price now rising, this deal could be costly.
If Leeds can secure Rodon on a permanent move when his loan deal comes to an end after this season, it would be a great deal for the club regardless of the amount of money dropped on his transfer with Spurs’ chairman Daniel Levy a notoriously hard negotiator.

Given the role the Welshman has played for Farke this season, his absence would certainly be felt by the team and the boss should he not return upon the expiry of his loan deal, which gives all the more reason to make sure he stays beyond the summer.
At just 26 years old, the Welsh defender still has plenty of time to learn and grow, and if he could do that as a permanent Leeds United player, it may prove the best situation for all parties.
