Here’s how the 49ers proved everyone wrong at Leeds United amid suspected winter market mess-up
The 49ers were accused of not doing enough in Leeds United’s winter transfer window.
The Whites brought in Facundo Buonanotte as their only senior addition in the winter window, despite Daniel Farke‘s wish for a new striker.
Leeds’ failed pursuit of Jorgen Strand Larsen had supporters asking questions at the club’s hierarchy and why they didn’t go for another striker, and rightly so.
But, after Leeds‘ 2-2 draw against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday, all concerns should be eased, particularly in the attacking department.

Leeds United’s attack never been better, 49ers look like transfer gurus
Not only have the 49ers proved people wrong about their business done in the summer, but the lack of movement in the winter window now also seems to have been justified.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin was signed on a free transfer in the summer, and many questioned his ability to stay fit and score goals in the Premier League, with his best days seemingly behind him.
The Englishman has shown that he can still be more than effective at this level, and despite his absence at Stamford Bridge, Lukas Nmecha’s performance spoke volumes for another man who cost nothing.
| Player | Games | Goals |
| Noah Okafor | 23 | 4 |
| Dominic Calvert-Lewin | 23 | 10 |
| Lukas Nmecha | 20 | 6 |
The German also scored and set up Noah Okafor’s leveller, as all three Leeds forwards mentioned are displaying that they are enough to keep the White’s in the big time.

Putting all of their Premier League records together, they have a combined 20 goals shared, despite the trio costing the 49ers just £18million.
What Leeds fans can now be excited about amid £33m winter bid
Leeds bid around £33million for Strand Larsen with a further £6million in potential add-ons before the Norwegian left Wolves for Crystal Palace.
Although everyone was deflated not to land the number nine, it means that the Whites have at least £33m to look forward to spend in the summer.
The good thing is that the 49ers and Leeds’ recruitment now have plenty of time to put plans in place, with Premier League survival looking like a reality.
Supporters can get excited for an interesting summer window, where the 49ers may take Leeds to the next level.
