Harry Gray in line for Leeds United opportunity as Calvert-Lewin concern emerges

Harry Gray is one of the brightest prospects in English football.

Archie Gray was a resounding success at Leeds United, and his transition to Spurs was seamless when he made the move to North London.

Now, Leeds have the same hope with his younger brother, Harry, who has already made his debut at first-team level at just 16 years old.

On Saturday, Leeds travel to face Wolves with hopes of picking up their first away win of the season, and the teenager may be handed a golden chance.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin yet to impress at Leeds

After failing to sign a marquee striker in the summer, pressure was piled on Dominic Calvert-Lewin to hit the ground running at Leeds.

While there are factors to take into account, he has failed to do that so far, with Ally McCoist concerned about where Leeds’ goals are going to come from after a poor miss in their defeat to Fulham.

What McCoist said about Calvert-Lewin and Leeds

Lukas Nmecha has scored Leeds’ only goal of the season, while Joel Piroe has become somewhat of an outcast despite an impressive campaign in the Championship.

Daniel Farke’s options are thin, and it could represent a golden chance for Gray to stake a claim for his place in the matchday squad.

At the very worst, Farke surely should be thinking about including him on the bench and allowing him to showcase his ability, with those ahead of him doing little to impress.

Leeds may lose Harry Gray if they fail to show pathway

At 16 years old, Gray will not necessarily be expecting to be a regular in the Premier League, but with such high praise and a good record at youth level, he will be wondering when his chance will come.

If that isn’t going to arrive when those ahead of him are failing to perform, it begs the question as to when it will, and with European teams likely circling for Gray’s signature, it will force him to think.

In just three starts in the Premier League 2, Gray has four goals and one assist.

Last season, he scored five in 10, and he has shown that he deserves a real chance in the first team.
