Harry Gray fear to block Leeds United January transfer after what’s happened at Elland Road

Daniel Farke and 49ers Enterprises will certainly be looking to see what they can do in the winter transfer window to strengthen Leeds United.

While Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR) restrictions at Elland Road may hinder the Whites from strengthening their squad, the sale of players could potentially be used to do some business.

Farke has a talented prospect in Harry Gray, and the young centre-forward recently signed a new deal with the West Yorkshire outfit.

While the Peacocks have high hopes for the 17-year-old, it may be too early to rely on him in the first-team setup, which may be the case soon.

Leeds United can’t sell Joel Piroe in January transfer window

Joel Piroe must be wondering what’s gone wrong for him at Leeds as he struggles for game time after leading them to the Championship title last season.

The Dutchman was the leading goalscorer in English football’s second tier in the previous campaign, but has started just twice in the Premier League.

Farke has opted to keep the 26-year-old on the bench in the last two league matches: the win over West Ham United at Elland Road and the loss to Brighton.

As a result, it wouldn’t be surprising to see Piroe angle for a move away from Leeds in the upcoming transfer window, but that would mean Gray possibly having to play a much more significant role in the first team.

The Dutch striker has effectively been relegated to being the third-choice number nine at the West Yorkshire outfit behind Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Lukas Nmecha.

However, the Englishman and Germany international have been injury-prone over the years, making Piroe’s continuity in LS11 an undoubted priority at least until next summer.

How Harry Gray is faring for Under-21 team

Gray’s new contract gives Leeds control over his future, and it wouldn’t have been surprising to see top teams come snooping for him, considering how he’s been performing for the youth side.

For the Whites’ Under-21 team, the young striker continues to be a key player this season, scoring four goals in seven appearances.

While the centre-forward has also made the first-team squad on a couple of occasions in the current campaign, Farke has been reluctant to use him.

The West Yorkshire outfit won’t want to make any mistakes in Gray’s development, and thrusting him into the senior squad at such an early age could potentially hinder his progress.
