Gnonto ‘to face axe’ after new update – Leeds United predicted XI v Watford

Wilfried Gnonto could face another frustrating evening on the Leeds United bench as Daniel Farke prepares his side to face Watford on Tuesday.

He could be just one of 10 changes made to the starting lineup when the Whites travel to Vicarage Road on 11 February, with only Ethan Ampadu keeping his spot in the team.

They will be hoping to put their FA Cup defeat to Millwall behind them with another Championship victory away from Elland Road.

Farke’s certainly did not put a full-strength team out against the Lions, with Isaac Schmidt, Josuha Guilavogui and Sam Chambers all starting in the disappointing 2-0 defeat.

Gnonto and Largie Ramazani were both given rare starts on the flanks, with Manor Solomon on the bench and Dan James nowhere to be seen at Elland Road, suffering a new injury.

Dan James ready for Leeds United start

It was previously predicted that Gnonto would keep his place in the starting XI after a positive display against Millwall, but he could have a bitter pill to swallow at Vicarage Road on Tuesday night.

This could all but seal Gnonto’s spot on the bench yet again, having not started any of the last five Championship fixtures for the Whites.

The 27-year-old is experiencing another incredible campaign in Leeds colours, currently boasting eight goals and six assists in the league after notching 20 goal contributions last term.

Daniel Farke aiming for Premier League promotion

With the number of attacking talents at his disposal, Farke is surely having a tricky time trying to keep all of his stars content, but he needs to put the club’s aims first.

If that means dropping Gnonto to the bench again so James can deputise on the right wing, that is exactly what the German must do. Promotion to the Premier League is integral this season.

The Italian winger is still having a good season at Elland Road, boasting five goals and five assists in 29 Championship matches, but he has fallen down the pecking order behind James and Solomon.

Sadly for Gnonto, he could be set to face further disappointment.
