Georginio Rutter branded ‘Bergkamp-esque’ after shining in 100% display v Swansea
Georginio Rutter has been branded “Bergkamp-esque” after his goalscoring display in the 3-1 victory for Leeds United against Swansea on 29 November.
The Frenchman played a starring role for Daniel Farke’s side yet again as he bagged a goal and an assist, earning high praise for his first touch as he brought a long ball down expertly before slotting it away.
His performance against Swansea was the culmination of a number of brilliant displays in recent weeks as Rutter is finally showing what he can do when at the top of his game.
The official ITV Football Twitter account posted the goal with the caption: “‘Hows’ your touch, son?!’ Bergkamp-esque from Leeds United’s Georginio Rutter.”
Having scored one and set another up on the way to a 3-1 win, Rutter made it six goal contributions in his last seven games, with the goals and assists coming against Swansea, Rotherham, Leicester, Huddersfield and Norwich.
In the clashes with Plymouth and Stoke, the two in his lasts even where he failed to contribute with a goal or an assist, he was unlucky not to have added to that total. A combined five key passes, nine shots, two big chances missed and two big chances created show he could have had even more. [Sofascore]
Against Swansea, he earned his comparison to the Arsenal legend with more than just his touch and goal. He had a 100% shot conversion rate and 100% long ball accuracy, as well as completing two key passes and a big chance created, from which he recorded an assist.

Winning eight of his 13 ground duels and three fouls helped ease the pressure on the midfield and defence when Leeds won possession back, and helped them dominate the game in yet another impressive Elland Road victory where Rutter stood out as the star man.
