Gelhardt starts, Harrison axed – Leeds United best possible XI v Liverpool

Marcelo Bielsa must start Joe Gelhardt if he wants to name his best possible Leeds United starting line-up to take on Liverpool at Anfield on Wednesday night.

With the Whites in dire form in the Premier League, it’s about time Bielsa mixes things up a bit and looks at dropping players who’ve underperformed consistently in recent weeks.

Robin Koch will drop out of the team that lost 4-2 to Manchester United on Sunday due to a head injury [Mail] but we feel that Bielsa should also ring two more changes by axing Rodrigo and Jack Harrison.

Gelhardt should start up front with Raphinha also, obviously, coming back into the side after he was inexplicably dropped to the bench for the Man United game. Junior Firpo should also start at left-back.

Leeds’ best possible starting line-up to take on Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool this week would feature Illan Meslier in goals and a back-four of Luke Ayling, Diego Llorente, Pascal Struijk and Firpo.

With Koch joining the list of injured players at Elland Road, naming a defensively solid midfield is tough – but it’s definitely achievable.

Adam Forshaw and Mateusz Klich should both start but they should have Stuart Dallas join them in the middle to keep the energy high and also provide an attacking outlet down the centre of the park.

Leeds’ attack should feature Raphinha on the right and Daniel James on the left while Gelhardt must start up front because he’s been our best player in the striker position this season when Patrick Bamford has been out injured.

Bielsa isn’t a manager who likes to chop and change his side but what does he have to lose against Liverpool on Wednesday?

Their bid to win the Premier League title could be revived if they win so they’ll be feeling a lot of pressure while we know that there’s no expectation on us to get a result.

If Bielsa plays this team, he’ll be playing a side that has square pegs in square holes and also offers players a chance to redeem themselves after the defeat to Man United.

Name this team, and we could win.
