Gabriel Gudmundsson enjoys rapid redemption arc after what happened vs Wolves
Gabriel Gudmundsson was close to tears after his freak own goal against Fulham last Saturday.
Gudmundsson sent a header flying into his own net in the 94th minute to cost Leeds the game at Craven Cottage.
Pundits have been discussing Gudmundsson’s own goal — and whether he can recover from it — all week.
It was a moment that could have affected the confidence of less experienced defenders, but Gudmundsson put in an almost faultless display against Wolves on Saturday to win back the hearts of the Leeds fans.

Gabriel Gudmundsson was fantastic against Wolves
There was talk in the media about Gudmundsson dropping to the bench against Wolves, but it’s likely the thought never crossed Daniel Farke’s mind.
The former Lille left-back has been a solid presence in defence for Leeds this season, apart from that one moment of madness at Craven Cottage.
And so it was the case again at Molineux.
Whatever Wolves attacker made his way to the right-hand side, he barely got any chance out of Gudmundsson.
The left-back also proved very useful on the overlap, almost helping Leeds add a fourth with a cut-back late on.

Experience is making the difference for Leeds this season
Farke has plenty of doubters after his miserable attempts to keep Norwich in the Premier League.
However, he was barely backed by the board during his time at Carrow Road, meaning his teams were always fighting a losing battle.
49ers Enterprises chose to support Farke with a huge transfer fund this summer, and the early signs are that his recruitment has been very good.
- Lucas Perri, Gudmundsson and Jaka Bijol have tightened the defence
- Anton Stach and Sean Longstaff have dominated midfield battles
- Dominic Calvert-Lewin looks ready to regain his peak form up front.
Farke has invested in experience, and it looks like this is going to pay off for Leeds.
Gudmundsson had never played in England before, but he’s currently playing like a Premier League stalwart. His experience playing in the Champions League and at international level will have helped him adapt.
As long as Leeds go on to survive comfortably this season, he’ll surely be able to look back at that own goal and laugh.
