Frank Lampard ‘set for Leeds United-inflicted blow’ after new EFL announcement
Leeds United and Daniel Farke could inflict a blow on Coventry City boss Frank Lampard amid an announcement made by the EFL.
Leeds pitched up at the CBS Arena on 5 February fresh from annihilating Cardiff 7-0 at Elland Road four days prior, and produced another dominant performance to comfortably defeat Lampard’s side 2-0.
Though not quite as emphatic as their seven-goal display against the Bluebirds, Daniel Farke‘s side had a two-goal lead inside 26 minutes thanks to goals from Joel Piroe and Jayden Bogle in the West Midlands.
The Whites had a plethora of chances to no avail in their bid to add further to the scoreline, putting in another display which made Coventry’s four-game winning streak prior look very ordinary indeed.

Lampard recieves EFL nomination despite Leeds United lesson
Leeds came away from Coventry with three points, another two in the goal difference column, and a win which was the second in a five-match streak which has taken them clear at the top of the Championship.
Position | Team | Played | Won | Drawn | Lost | GD | Points |
1 | Leeds United | 35 | 22 | 10 | 3 | +50 | 76 |
2 | Sheffield United | 35 | 23 | 6 | 6 | +23 | 73 |
3 | Burnley | 35 | 19 | 14 | 2 | +35 | 71 |
4 | Sunderland | 35 | 18 | 11 | 6 | +20 | 65 |
That run of form has seen Farke listed as one of four nominees to win the Championship Manager of the Month award, as confirmed by the EFL on Thursday (6 March), with Daniel James also nominated for the player’s award.
Farke is joined on that list, however, by Lampard; who despite overseeing four wins from five last month, was absolutely schooled by Farke on 5 February in a display which showcased the gulf between the two.

Daniel Farke surely set to beat Lampard to EFL award
While Farke is indeed the best-placed of all four nominated managers to have come away with maximum points last month – which he did – other coaches in differing circumstances can still be commended.
John Mousinho, for example, may only have won 10 points from a possible 15 with Portsmouth, but those results have seen Pompey climb from hovering above the relegation places and up to 17th in the table.
Leeds, by contrast, haven’t moved in terms of their position of first, and nor have third-placed Burnley, casting doubt over whether Farke or Clarets boss Scott Parker will be the recipient of the monthly award.
Lampard’s Coventry did make significant strides up the ladder, from 11th to seventh (they’re now fifth), in that time, but given their one blemish came at the hands of another nominated manger, Farke losing out Lampard for the February award would be a cruel injustice.
