Farke will be concerned after Mateo Joseph moment in Leeds United win v Swansea
Daniel Farke will be concerned after what Mateo Joseph did in the Championship game between Leeds United and Swansea City on Sunday.
The Whites went atop the Championship table after beating Swansea 4-3 in Wales on 24 November, but there were a few red flags, not least the shaky defence.
With the game heading towards a nervy climax, Joseph, who came on as a 75th-minute substitute for Joel Piroe, had the chance to put any doubts to bed when he got in with Swans goalkeeper Lawrence Vigoroux off the line.
However, the Spanish striker decided against setting Brenden Aaronson up for a relatively easy shot in a bid to attempt himself, only to fluff the chance.
Joseph drew criticism from Jon Newsome on BBC Radio Leeds’ Football Forum [24 November] after the game, with the pundit saying: “I didn’t think Joseph looked sharp, it looked like everything was half-hearted, half-paced.

The Joseph moment was a small incident in an eventful game, but looking at the bigger picture, such instances could be detrimental in other instances.
There are no doubts about the 21-year-old’s goalscoring prowess as he is fresh off netting in Spain Under-21s’ 2-1 victory over Denmark on 19 November.
However, the striker needs to display more maturity when he finds himself in situations like he did in the dying minutes of the game at Swansea.
On another occasion, that might have been the chance for the Elland Road to nick a winner or even a point, which could in turn influence their promotion chances.

Daniel Farke’s side are well-placed to earn automatic promotion to the Premier League after 16 games, but it is worth noting that Sunderland and Sheffield United are level on points with them, while Burnley are just two behind.
The ruthless nature of the Championship is such that mistakes hardly go unpunished and the likes of Joseph need to do more when put in pressure situations.
One can only hope that the former Espanyol starlet will play the pass to his teammate at the right time if such an instance repeats in the future.
