Farke to axe defender in three changes – Leeds United predicted XI v Cardiff

Daniel Farke could look at dropping Sam Byram from his Leeds United starting XI as they gear up to face Cardiff on Saturday.

While the Englishman has done a more than solid job at filling in the gap left by the injured Junior Firpo, now that the Dominican Republic international is back to full fitness, it’s likely that he’ll be chosen to start once again.

The other two changes we could see from Farke are Ilia Gruev getting dropped for Joe Rothwell and Brenden Aaronson being sidelined with Willy Gnonto coming in to take over the number 10 role.

Illan Meslier will likely be the man between the sticks for Leeds as has been the case for most of the season.

The defence is where we’re likely to see the first change come into play with Byram being replaced with Firpo as Jayden Bogle, Ethan Ampadu and Joe Rodon all keep their places in the starting XI.

Gruevn is also likely to lose his place in the team with Leeds looking to make the most out of their attacker by bringing in Rothwell for the Bulgarian while Ao Tanaka will stay put.

Dan James and Manor Solomon have both been in an immense run of form over the last few weeks so it would be a surprise to see Farke drop either of them despite the amount of game time they’ve had recently.

In attacking midfield, it finally feels like now could be the time to give Aaronson a rest and bring Gnonto back into the starting XI in a more central role.

Then last but not least, leading the line will likely be Joel Piroe, the Dutchman hasn’t been in the best of form recently but neither has Mateo Jospeh so it could end up being a toss of a coin between who starts out of them both.
