Farke must prove Stelling and McCoist wrong after Bielsa claim at Leeds United
Daniel Farke has got Leeds United firing this season and their form during the campaign so far has placed them among the favourites for promotion to the Premier League.
The Whites have won 11 of their 19 games this term and find themselves sitting second in the table, a point behind Sheffield United.
It remains tight at the top of the table in the race for the automatic promotion places but with Farke’s side being one of the top-scoring teams in the Championship, they will no doubt keep this momentum up until the end of the season.
Despite this, Jeff Stelling said on talkSPORT [10 December, 9:20]: “Leeds are just one point off Sheffield United, they’ve won their last seven home games, and yet despite that, Daniel Farke I don’t think is universally popular.”
Co-host Ally McCoist was quick to agree with his comments, arguing that no manager could live up to Marcelo Bielsa at Elland Road.
“That’s unfortunate, not just for Farke, but for anybody that comes in post-Bielsa really, because it sounds like he’s going to have an impossible act to follow,” he said.
Daniel Farke can mark a new era at Leeds United
Although Marcelo Bielsa was admired by many fans at Leeds United after he got them promoted to the Premier League, if Farke can achieve his aims and repeat this achievement, he will no doubt have all supporters on his side at Elland Road.
There are higher expectations on the German than there were on Bielsa, not least because of the parachute payments the Whites received after their relegation from the top flight that they have been able to invest into the team.
However, Farke looks well on track to take his side back to the Premier League and achieve their aims which above anything else, is exactly what supporters at Elland Road want to see.

Furthermore, although it feels like a while off at this stage, with top-flight managerial experience as well as the increased money this time round, the 48-year-old would no doubt relish the challenge in the Premier League and want to prove to supporters that he can keep Leeds on a positive track.
It’s a long season ahead and while the Whites aren’t keen on doing too much business in the January transfer window, if the boss gets it right, he could easily become a fan favourite as he lifts the club back to where they feel they belong.
Bielsa will always be universally loved at Elland Road but if Farke can get his side back up, he might prove Stelling and McCoist wrong and earn the adulation too.
