Farke axes Brenden Aaronson, two changes – Leeds predicted XI v Portsmouth
Daniel Farke could make three changes to his Leeds United side to face Portsmouth on Sunday with Brenden Aaronson potentially set to miss out.
The Whites are preparing to continue their pursuit of the Championship title with a trip to Fratton Park on 9 March.
Last time out, a 1-1 draw against West Brom was highly frustrating after Junior Firpo opened the scoring with less than 10 minutes on the clock at Elland Road.
The result isn’t what the LS11 faithful would have wanted and as a result, Farke will be keen to return with a positive result away to Pompey.

Aaronson axed for Leeds United v Portsmouth
Regardless of the result against the Baggies, it does appear likely that the defensive line is set to remain the same for the visit to the south coast.
This could see Illan Meslier start again with a back four of Jayden Bogle, Joe Rodon, Pascal Struijk and Firpo potentially set to start ahead of the Frenchman once more.
At the base of midfield, Farke could look to make one change to solidify the side against Pompey, who scored three at Elland Road earlier in the season.
Stat | Leeds United | Portsmouth |
Possession (%) | 69 | 31 |
Shots | 22 | 5 |
Goals scored | 3 | 3 |
Defensive actions | 34 | 56 |
This could see Ilia Gruev return to the side in place of Joe Rothwell to pair up with Ao Tanaka in support of the backline at Fratton Park.
A change could also be utilised in forward areas with Wilfried Gnonto potentially in line to return to the starting XI in place of Aaronson who struggled last time out.
With that being said, Farke could leave his winger options as they are with Manor Solomon and Dan James both likely to feature from the start once again.
This duo will have the job of supplementing Joel Piroe who is set to start once again with Mateo Joseph undergoing fitness tests at Elland Road and could be set to miss out.

Leeds United must secure win v Portsmouth
There is so much positivity surrounding Elland Road right now and that can’t be forgotten ahead of a trip to face a side battling against relegation.
John Mousinho’s side have some excellent qualities which have already caused problems for the Whites this season but they are set to be without the likes of Paddy Lane for the visit of the Yorkshire club.
Although the Whites are set to be without their own key players like Ethan Ampadu, there is more than enough quality available to secure three points.
It will be interesting to see if Farke can motivate his side to get back to winning ways with the Premier League firmly in sight right now.
