Ethan Ampadu dilemma soon to emerge as Leeds United injury fears grow
Ethan Ampadu is currently sidelined with an injury at Leeds United.
Leeds United’s 0-0 draw with Newcastle wasn’t a bad result, all things considered, though the absence of Ampadu was certainly felt.
Since moving to Elland Road in 2023, the Welshman has been a key figure for the Whites, playing a crucial role in their promotion back to the Premier League.
However, Amapadu suffered an injury in Leeds’ opener against Everton, and with his return expected after the international break, the Whites will face a new dilemma over his future.

Ethan Ampadu’s contract expires in 2027
As of right now, there is nothing to suggest that Ampadu will leave Elland Road, though there will come a time when it starts to come into question.
Since joining in 2023, Ampadu has missed 29 games through injury at Leeds, with 27 of them arriving in the Championship campaign last time out.
He certainly has a track record of injuries, and that is something that will be on the mind of the decision-makers at Elland Road
- 24/25 season (Leeds) – 27 games missed
- 20/21 (Sheffield United) – Six games missed
- 19/20 (Leipzig) – 14 games missed
- 18/19 (Chelsea) – 16 games missed
- 17/18 (Chelsea) – 17 games missed
This time next summer, Ampadu’s value will plummet as a result of his contract length, and Leeds will need to decide before then as to what the future holds for him.
A new contract may be offered with the hope of him being able to put his injury troubles behind him, or the Whites could look to cash in on him as early as January if concerns keep growing over his fitness.

How much does Ethan Ampadu earn at Leeds?
Leeds’ summer business so far has seen the wage bill increase significantly.
With that said, Jack Harrison is still Leeds’ highest earner, with a reported wage of £90,000 a week according to Capology.
Noah Okafor comes in at second on £72,500, with captain Ampadu all the way down in seventh, on a rumoured £40,000 per week.
For a player of his quality, and for someone who has spent several years at the club, it is certainly a low wage, showcasing the fact that contract talks may be needed in the near future.
