Emi Buendia ‘decision made for Leeds United’ as Fabrizio Romano shares update
Leeds United target Emi Buendia looks set to join Bundesliga outfit Bayer Leverkusen on loan in what could be a blow to the Whites’ promotion hopes.
Although it was always an ambitious target [Alan Nixon], Buendia appears as though he will not be joining Leeds this winter after Villa agreed a loan-to-buy option with Leverkusen [Fabrizio Romano].
Had Leeds been able to muster up a deal, their chances of promotion would have increased significantly, but the very fact that Leverkusen have agreed to a buy clause is perhaps the main reason nothing ever materialised.
Given his wages and likely substantial transfer fee, it was always going to be hard for the Whites to succeed in their attempts to bring him to Elland Road.
And after this latest update from the transfer expert, Leeds now know they have to focus on landing other targets.
Leeds United to move on from Emi Buendia interest
With the move for the Argentine now seemingly dead in the water, the Whites must pursue other targets if that is the area of the pitch they intend to strengthen and there will be plenty of them.
Given their already high chances of playing Premier League football next season, they may be able to entice some exciting names to Elland Road in the coming week, but to do so they must outline their ambitions and move fast.
Leeds are yet to add to their squad so far in this window, although with a week remaining, there is still time to conclude some potential promotion-deciding business.

Whether playmaker Buendia was seen as a priority is unknown, but he is a player that certainly would have ticked lots of boxes.
However, if the links to Leeds were genuine, it shows that the Whites do have some manoeuvrability in the window that could aid them in the coming days.
In other Leeds United news, the Whites are said to be open to offers for this player.
