Dominic Calvert-Lewin delight as Leeds United share brilliant new announcement

Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s revival has been one of the surprises of the season in the Premier League.

Calvert-Lewin joined Leeds on a free transfer over the summer, following the conclusion of his nine-year spell at Everton.

The 28-year-old had a slow start to the campaign at Elland Road, but has burst into life over the last two months, and now has nine goals to his name this term.

He has been one of the form players across Europe in recent times, and his exploits in front of goal have now been officially recognised.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin wins Premier League award

Calvert-Lewin played five games during December, scoring in every single one as Daniel Farke’s side shot up the Premier League table.

The former Everton striker even found the back of the net twice in one match, as Leeds beat Crystal Palace 4-1 at Elland Road.

Time and time again, Calvert-Lewin appeared in the right place at the right time, often scoring his goals from no more than six yards out.

As a result of his red-hot form, the former England international has been announced as the Premier League Player of the Month for December.

In a post on X, Leeds shared a photo of Calvert-Lewin holding the award, with the caption: “The awards keep coming! Dominic Calvert-Lewin has been voted the @PremierLeague’s Player of the Month for December!”

Calvert-Lewin’s incredible scoring run more than justifies the award and shows just how much of an impact he had during December.

Calvert-Lewin achieves seven-year first

After winning the Player of the Month award for December, Calvert-Lewin has become the first player at a newly promoted club to pick up the award in seven years.

Teemu Pukki was the last person to achieve the feat, ironically under the management of Farke at Norwich City in August 2019.

Pukki scored five goals and picked up one assist in what was his first-ever month of Premier League football, including a hat-trick against Newcastle United.

The Finnish striker found the net a total of 11 times for Norwich in the 2019-20 campaign, but the Canaries were unable to avoid relegation, finishing rock bottom with just 21 points.
