David Prutton wide of mark with what he’s said about Leeds v Sheffield Wednesday
David Prutton has suggested that Leeds United could be in for a “scare” against Sheffield Wednesday but he seems to be wide of the mark.
The Whites turn their attention back to the Championship after their FA Cup victory against Harrogate, to face a Sheffield Wednesday side embroiled in controversy.
Having seen star midfielder Shea Charles recalled by Southampton, and with their owner hitting back at supporters’ claims this week, things aren’t all as rosy as they were at Hillsborough earlier in the campaign.
With that in mind, Prutton’s prediction seems wide of the mark.
Speaking on Sky Sports’ Championship Predictions podcast [16 January], Prutton said: “I think potentially you’ve got a Wednesday side that could give [Leeds] a bit of a scare.” He went on to predict a 2-2 scoreline.
Leeds United need to secure victory against Sheffield Wednesday
When taking into account the two sides’ ambitions, added to the current circumstances at Wednesday, this is a game that Leeds simply have to be winning.
With Burnley set to face off against Sunderland on Saturday (17 January), a win for either side could take them above the Whites in the table, albeit much of that will be dependant on goal difference.

With that said, Leeds will have to be at their best and can’t afford to showcase a sloppiness in attack against a team who are quietly having a good campaign of their own.
Daniel Farke’s side have already dropped many needless points due to a lack of focus or individual errors, and with the promotion race heating up, a continuation of that could prove costly.
Given Wednesday’s aforementioned worries, though, plus the fact they have lost their past two games against the Whites, a home win this weekend seems nailed on.
