Darko Gyabi ‘in dreamland’ as Leeds gem handed dream Manchester City audition
Darko Gyabi will be in dreamland after being handed a dream Manchester City draw away from Leeds United.
Leeds sent out Gyabi on a season-long loan to Plymouth Argyle in the summer after the midfielder spent the second half of last season there.
The move has proved fruitful for all parties so far, with the 20-year-old making 32 appearances across all competitions for the Pilgrims and bagging a goal and two assists in the process.
Daniel Farke would have only wanted Gyabi to get a significant amount of first-team experience under his belt when he sanctioned the transfer.
However, the youngster had the opportunity to test himself against one of the best teams in Europe as Plymouth hosted Liverpool in the fourth round of the FA Cup on Sunday, 9 February.
While some sides would have just relished the chance to play against the Reds, Plymouth took the game to the Premier League leaders and emerged 1-0 winners, thanks to a Ryan Hardie goal.
Darko Gyabi to test himself against Manchester City
The bottom-placed Championship club pulled off a massive upset when they beat Liverpool, but their reward for that is an away trip to Manchester City in the fifth round of the competition.
Plymouth can be forgiven for feeling frustrated with the draw, but having beaten Arne Slot’s Liverpool, they would surely back themselves to get another huge win over the Cityzens, who have lost the most amount of games in the Premier League top ten this term.
As for Gyabi, he will be dancing and jumping with joy after learning about the draw.
The opportunity to face Liverpool and Manchester City in back-to-back ties in the FA Cup would be something even his Leeds United teammates would be envious of.
The loan could be not going any better for the Whites as their player prepares to lock horns with another European heavyweights.

Darko Gyabi to have Leeds United audition
Gyabi has been restricted to just five appearances for Leeds since joining them as an 18-year-old in 2022.
This loan stint may be his shot at earning his way into Farke’s first-team plans next season and testing himself against the likes of Manchester City will only stand him in good stead.
It is also worth noting that the London-born midfielder was on Manchester City’s books before moving to Elland Road three years ago.
He featured for the Under-21s side until his exit and now has the opportunity to cause an upset over his former employers.
