Daniel James admission won’t go down well with fans ahead of Swansea v Leeds

Daniel James’ admission ahead of returning to Swansea City with Leeds United will unlikely go down too well with supporters.

The Welshman came through the ranks at Swansea and enjoyed many happy years with the club before moving to Manchester United and then Leeds.

Despite now being in the white of Leeds, James has said he is unlikely to celebrate if he scores against the Swans in South Wales on Sunday (24 November).

Speaking to the Yorkshire Evening Post [22 November], James said: “If I did score it would be hard for me to celebrate but obviously inside you’re buzzing.

“I haven’t been there for a long time, but I still respect the club a lot and what they do.”

Daniel James needs to step up for Leeds United

James has a rather underwhelming two goals and no assists in the Championship this season, albeit he has been restricted to just six starts and three further substitute appearances.

The winger played in both of Wales’ November internationals but also did not contribute to a goal, so he could do with changing that against Swansea.

If James gets on the scoresheet with a late winner against the Swans, you’d like to think he’d celebrate that with the travelling fans, rather than holding it in.

It seems to be a modern trend that players almost go over the top to show how much they care for their former clubs… so much so they left in the first place.

This is by no means a dig at James himself, but players refusing to celebrate against former sides has never gone down well.

Ultimately, let’s just hope James even has a decision to make, which would mean him finding the back of the net this weekend.
