Daniel Farke’s Leeds United relegation boast comes back to haunt amid worrying twist

Leeds United have slipped into the relegation zone for the first time this season following West Ham’s result on Saturday.

The Whites’ relegation rivals drew 2-2 with Bournemouth in the Premier League, but matters could have been made worse as the Hammers led 2-0 at one point.

Leeds are still to play Aston Villa on Sunday, and are now in desperate need of a positive result, if they weren’t before.

Pressure is mounting on Daniel Farke, and he will already be regretting some truly foolish comments made before the Villa showdown in LS11.

Daniel Farke gloated Leeds have yet to be in the relegation zone

Farke looks truly doomed at Leeds, with underlying data pointing towards the German head coach being sacked soon.

The 49ers decided to back Farke during the November international break, despite many wanting him gone from Elland Road immediately.

However, as expected, things are just getting worse, and Leeds are now 18th in the Premier League due to an inferior goal-scoring record over West Ham.

But before the Villa game, Farke was quick to downplay Leeds’ recent poor form, making the baseless claim that the Whites had yet to fall into the bottom three this season.

Farke said, as quoted by journalist Beren Cross on X: “Over the last 11 games, we have not once dropped into the relegation zone.”

The Leeds boss simply isn’t helping himself, and the burden of the job seems to be getting through in his words.

Leeds will be sacked if they keep Farke

Leeds have an extremely difficult run of fixtures coming up, and results haven’t exactly gone their way so far from the games played in game week 12.

Farke had one job when he came into Leeds, and that was to achieve promotion.

And while the Peacock army will be thankful for his contribution, it’s clear to see that Farke is out of his depth coaching in the top flight.

The game against Aston Villa could be Farke’s last chance to salvage something to hold onto, but it would be no surprise to see another loss.
