Daniel Farke will be delighted by Premier League announcement for Brighton vs Leeds United

Leeds travel to take on Brighton in their next Premier League match on Saturday.

Leeds’ 2-1 win over West Ham at Elland Road has left the Whites sitting 15th in the table, and six points clear of the relegation zone.

The Peacocks will have over a week to prepare for the match, and a win against 12th-placed Brighton would significantly boost their survival hopes.

Daniel Farke was under pressure before the victory on Friday, and he’ll be anticipating another strong performance against the Seagulls.

Michael Oliver appointed as referee for Brighton vs Leeds

Experienced referee Michael Oliver will officiate the clash on Saturday, with Neil Davies named as the VAR official.

Much to the delight of Leeds fans, Oliver has never sent off a Leeds player during his career.

Oliver is one of the most decorated referees in England, having officiated several huge matches.

Oliver’s major achievements as a referee:

Farke will be even more delighted with Oliver’s record when managing the Peacocks, and he’ll be expecting his side to avoid picking up their first red card of the season.

Frank’s only gripe is that Oliver gave a soft free kick to Bournemouth that led to Antoine Semenyo’s goal in the 2-2 draw on 27 September, but that isn’t too bad.

Tottenham were furious with Leeds’ goal in the match on 4 October as an inflatable ball was near the goalmouth when Noah Okafor equalised at Elland Road.

Apart from that goal, which ex-PGMOL chief Keith Hackett believes should have stood, Leeds have not been involved in many refereeing injustices this season, and they’ll hope it continues that way.

Brighton are expected to beat Leeds on Saturday, and Farke’s side will have to capitalise on their shaky defence if they stand any chance.

Leeds can experience joy against inconsistent Brighton

Brighton have recorded impressive wins against Chelsea and Man City, yet they’ve dropped points in games which they should have won against teams near the bottom of the table.

The Seagulls are yet to keep a clean sheet in the Premier League this season, and it gives Okafor the perfect opportunity to continue his good run of form.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin must do better in front of goal, having only scored once since arriving on a free transfer in the summer.

However, Leeds’ threat from corners could be vital in what promises to be a hugely entertaining game of football.
